National Wedding Show – Oct 8-10 2010

Things are starting to move up a gear for the advertising for the next National Wedding Show at the NEC, Birmingham, October 8th-10th 2010. I’ll be exhibiting on Stand D19. My weblink is now live: http://tinyurl.com/2cam2vh

I’ll also be unveling a new stand as I feel that I need to change a few things around. Primarily I’ll be changing how I display my photos on the back wall, so keep in touch to find out about the new look.

You may remember Danielle and Marco who had their pre-wedding shoot in Droitwich last February, well now their wedding day has arrived! The wedding and reception were both held at The Hotel du Vin in Birmingham, and as one of the hotel’s preferred photographers I always enjoy coming back as there’s always a new angle to see and explore with the photographs. Here’s just a few of my favourites from the day.

Kirstein and Richard got married in January but asked for their images not to be released before they returned from honeymoon, hence the late post. Their wedding was held at St John’s Church, Wall followed by their reception at Moor Hall.

I’ve just had the following great e-mail sent from Jennie and Michael who’s wedding I covered back in July, at Sutton Town Hall.

Hi Clive

I`m a bit slow doing it, but now that Christmas is behind us for another year I just wanted to take the time to say thank you so much for our beautiful album. It was well worth the wait. Our friends and family are really impressed with the story book album.

I am so glad that we didn`t skimp on the cost of a first class photographer because when all of the planning and the event itself is over the photos are what you`ve got left to hang on to and recall the day.

You really have left us with a stunning visual diary of the day and although right now the memories are still clear, I`m sure in years to come when the old grey cells need a bit more prompting we`ll have only to turn the pages of the album to relive the day.

Well it’s that time of the year again to reminisce about what happened during the last year, and what a great year it was with some fantastic memories, not least of which included a wedding in the Caribbean!!

Clive’s Five (1st August 2009: Emma and Matthew)

Emma and Matthew got married at St John by Hagley Hall and held their reception at The Bromsgrove Hotel.

It was great meeting up again with Matthew and Emma, as last year I’d photographed her sister’s wedding and previously I’d done 2 of her cousins too, so it was like meeting old freinds as I knew so many at the wedding.

Despite the pouring rain, and a bit more rain for good measure, they and their guests managed to have a great day, not letting anything dampen their spirits. Thanks all for being such great fun, and a special thanks must go to Sarah Price for her contribution to the day too!!

Wedding Photojournalist Association (WPJA)

In a constant strive to push myself to improve my photography, I’m always looking out for new sources of inspiration and guidance, especially along the line of a documentary/reportage wedding coverage, which I enjoy the most. In my recent search I came across the Wedding Photojournalist Associatation (WPJA) who “grants membership to the most talented professional wedding photographers in the industry–photographers who focus solely on using their photography skills in documenting weddings.”

After applying to join and then hearing nothing for a while, I simply thought that I didn’t qualify to join this elite group of photographers. That was until I received this e-mail: “Hi Clive, We are happy to inform you that after having reviewed your web site and image portfolio, we agree you meet the WPJA membership requirements! We look forward to having you as a member.”

As you can imagine I’m chuffed, to say the least!!

Being a member will provide me with the platform to expand my documentary coverage of weddings, which I feel can give a far more accurate, natural and unobtrusive record of a wedding. This will benefit everyone as: The couple will enjoy the day more, rather than being dragged around for a mock fashion photo shoot on their weding day, instead they can spend time with their guests. Also I’ll enjoy the day more as I’m spending my time looking for those timeless, fleeting moments that so often go unnoticed.
