Before and After…

Every now and then I hear someone say “digital photography is so easy. You only have to press the shutter, download the images and print them in an album.” But how far from the truth that statement is!! In fact as soon as the shutter is pressed that when the real work starts as each image will have it’s exposure checked and corrected if necessary, colour balanced, cropped, sharpened, minor blemishes/distracting elements air-brushed and the final image perhaps vignetted. By the time the final print is done it can sometimes look nothing like the original. All of this takes time and can’t be automated.... Click to see more

I’m Still Here

Just a quick post to say I’m still here. Things have been a bit hectic, to say the least, in the run up to the holiday season, when everyone understandably wants their order ASAP to give as presents etc. So I’ve not had much time to blog. But as soon as things slow down I’ll let you all know what’s been happening. Thanks for checking in.... Click to see more

And now for something completely different…Trash the Dress

Those of you who are already married, can I ask “Where is your wedding dress right now?”. “When was the last time you wore it?”. “If you don’t ever intend wearing it again, what are you going to do with it?”. Traditionally a bride would keep her wedding dress to pass onto her daughter, for their wedding. But with fashions changing so rapidly now, very few daughters are willing to wear their mother’s wedding dress. So again I ask, “What are you going to do with your dress?”. Here’s an idea that is fast becoming popular in America and starting to creep in over here in the UK: Why not have a post wedding fashion/contemporary/lifestyle portrait shoot wearing your wedding dress? Here’s the twist, during the shoot let’s not worry whether the dress gets dirty, wet, soiled etc, as are you ever going to use it again?? Not surprisingly the term being used for this photo shoot is “Trash the Dress”. (Read here for more info) The idea is not to necessarily deliberately trash the dress but to get some more unusual shots for your wedding album or just for your wall as art, while doing something that you wouldn’t want to do on the wedding day for fear of getting the dress dirty. So despite the name there’s no pressure for the dress to be actually ‘trashed’, and anyhow dry cleaners can actually work miracles on the filthiest of dresses. This is your chance to be a bit more liberated in your wedding dress and have some fun, and the resulting images can be stunning!!... Click to see more

Saleisha

It’s that time of the year again to photograph young Saleisha as she grows up. Every year since she was 1 year old I’ve been photographing her and her family so that in years to come they’ll have a unique, unrepeatable record of her growth from infancy.... Click to see more

Last week I had the opportunity to 2nd shoot with Martin Potts. I haven’t 2nd shot in years so I jumped at the chance when offered as it allows me more freedom to experiment more and to capture more of the incidental photos away from the formal group photos.... Click to see more
