Charlotte and David were married at St Marys and St Margarets and held their reception at Moor Hall. It was a bit like deja vu coming back to Moor Hall so soon as I was only there 15 days earlier, but I didn’t want to just take the same photos as before so I aimed to capture something different to reflect each couples personality and wedding.... As a photographer I’m always looking to improve the standard of my work and to bring it up to the next level so that rather than simply taking photographs, I can capture an image that will stand the test of time as a work of art. (I know, I’m not asking for much eh!!) - OK I may not reach that lofty goal but as the saying goes “If you aim for the stars and only reach the moon, isn’t that an achievement in it self?” (or words to that effect)... If you’ve been following this blog since last year you’ll know that every year at this time I get to photograph the Ford family along with their daughter Saleisha as she grows up. We started when she was 1 year old and have not missed a year since. This was last year... Click to see more

I’m not long back from a break in Albufeira, in Portugal. We visited this area 3 years ago and loved it enough to visit again, staying between the historic old town and the more “touristy”new town. What I love about the old town, as with many other Portuguese towns is the wonderful architecture, many with a Moorish connection, the white-washed buildings that contrast beautifully with the blue sky, winding narrow lanes waiting to be explored and photographed, and of course the long sandy beaches for the relaxing afternoon spent just listening to mighty sea.... I’m just a few days back from the Lakes and I’m missing it already. A few friends were going up for a weeks holiday and there was a space for me and my wife so they asked if we’d like to join them. As I hadn’t been for well over 30 years and can’t remember much, and my wife Marie had never been, we jumped at the chance. It was the best holiday in ages. We were with great friends, the weather was fantastic, sunny all the way and the scenery… well what can I say!!... Click to see more

It’s been exactly 1 year today since I posted by first blog. How time flies!! I must admit I was a bit hesitant about whether to start blogging, thinking “would anyone be interested in my few ramblings or favorite photos?” But based on the comments over the year I’ve found my worries were unfounded as many continue to surprise me by commenting on a post I’ve written, many times on things I’d forgotten all about.... Every now and then I hear someone say “digital photography is so easy. You only have to press the shutter, download the images and print them in an album.” But how far from the truth that statement is!! In fact as soon as the shutter is pressed that when the real work starts as each image will have it’s exposure checked and corrected if necessary, colour balanced, cropped, sharpened, minor blemishes/distracting elements air-brushed and the final image perhaps vignetted. By the time the final print is done it can sometimes look nothing like the original. All of this takes time and can’t be automated.... Click to see more

Just a quick post to say I’m still here. Things have been a bit hectic, to say the least, in the run up to the holiday season, when everyone understandably wants their order ASAP to give as presents etc. So I’ve not had much time to blog. But as soon as things slow down I’ll let you all know what’s been happening. Thanks for checking in.... Click to see more

Those of you who are already married, can I ask “Where is your wedding dress right now?”. “When was the last time you wore it?”. “If you don’t ever intend wearing it again, what are you going to do with it?”. Traditionally a bride would keep her wedding dress to pass onto her daughter, for their wedding. But with fashions changing so rapidly now, very few daughters are willing to wear their mother’s wedding dress. So again I ask, “What are you going to do with your dress?”. Here’s an idea that is fast becoming popular in America and starting to creep in over here in the UK: Why not have a post wedding fashion/contemporary/lifestyle portrait shoot wearing your wedding dress? Here’s the twist, during the shoot let’s not worry whether the dress gets dirty, wet, soiled etc, as are you ever going to use it again?? Not surprisingly the term being used for this photo shoot is “Trash the Dress”. (Read here for more info) The idea is not to necessarily deliberately trash the dress but to get some more unusual shots for your wedding album or just for your wall as art, while doing something that you wouldn’t want to do on the wedding day for fear of getting the dress dirty. So despite the name there’s no pressure for the dress to be actually ‘trashed’, and anyhow dry cleaners can actually work miracles on the filthiest of dresses. This is your chance to be a bit more liberated in your wedding dress and have some fun, and the resulting images can be stunning!!... Click to see more
