I’m not usually one for  posting warnings about potential scams but I had a close call yesterday.
I walked into a B & Q store at lunchtime and some old guy dressed in a black  shirt with an orange apron on asked me if I wanted decking. Fortunately, I got  the first punch in and sorted him out.
Those less suspecting might not  be so fortunate!! Pass this warning on…. ;-)

This week I was invited to take a few informal PR photos for the TV News Reporter Marverine Cole, at the local BBC studios. I met Marverine about 3 years ago when she was working for a local radio station as a journalist. She’s come a long way since then and is still heading for greater things.  I hope that my images will help her along the way as she uses them for her updated portfolio.... Click to see more

One of my recommended wedding suppliers, Dewfresh the florist is planning an upgrade on their website and called on my services last week to photograph their bouquets for their soon to be updated on-line gallery. I welcomed the opportunity, as the flowers used for a wedding are one of the things I always try to photograph, and depending on time I aim to get at least one artistic macro/close-up view to emphasise the beauty of the individual buds/petals.... It’s been exactly 1 year today since I posted by first blog. How time flies!! I must admit I was a bit hesitant about whether to start blogging, thinking “would anyone be interested in my few ramblings or favorite photos?” But based on the comments over the year I’ve found my worries were unfounded as many continue to surprise me by commenting on a post I’ve written, many times on things I’d forgotten all about.... Every now and then I hear someone say “digital photography is so easy. You only have to press the shutter, download the images and print them in an album.” But how far from the truth that statement is!! In fact as soon as the shutter is pressed that when the real work starts as each image will have it’s exposure checked and corrected if necessary, colour balanced, cropped, sharpened, minor blemishes/distracting elements air-brushed and the final image perhaps vignetted. By the time the final print is done it can sometimes look nothing like the original. All of this takes time and can’t be automated.... Click to see more
