1) Tell us a bit about your company and where you’re based?
Each Hotel du Vin boasts its own unique location, be it townhouse, brewery, warehouse or renovated hospital, complimented by the unmistakable Hotel du Vin essentials: French-style bistros with a modern edge; unsurpassed wine cellars; eclectic furnishings; Egyptian linen, monsoon-like showers and handsprung mattresses.
The previously disused Birmingham Eye Hospital is the distinctive location for our Birmingham hotel and we are based in the city centre. Original features include a magnificent sweeping staircase and granite pillars, plus an inner tranquil courtyard with a new state of the art retractable roof.
We strive to be elegant but hassle-free, classic yet quirky.
The hotel has 66 bedrooms and suites. A relaxing haven in the city, the hotel boasts a spa and gym, four beautifully appointed private events rooms and two bars.
Abbey Well, the largest of our private rooms and benefiting from air- conditioning, is a stylish mirrored hall flooded with natural daylight, ideal for receptions, parties and weddings of all sizes.
Attractively styled and decorated, air-conditioned Sassicaia provides direct access onto the open courtyard and is ideal for smaller parties.
The dining offers a menu rooted in classic European cuisine, on the menu you will find ‘simple classics’ that change seasonally, with each chef adding their own selections and signature dishes daily, all supporting the philosophy of using the finest and freshest local produce, cooked simply and priced sensibly.
An extensive and eclectic 300 bottles wine list is a key feature of Hotel du Vin. Joined by offering over 50 Champagnes,’ The Bubble Lounge’ is flamboyantly decorated in the style of Venice’s Café Florin.

2) What started you off in this line of work?
Honestly, I wanted to stop doing shift work on reception!! And after graduating university with a degree I thought what better to do with it – than NOTHING!!
I jumped at the chance to organize events at Hotel du Vin. It gives me great delight to see people’s faces when I’m showing them around the hotel and after a victorious wedding/event.
I had an eagerness to learn as much as I could from the events manager before me as everyday was a different one.
Comforting, self-reliance and a great people person – I found were perfect credentials to take the stress away from anxious brides and apprehensive conference organizers. What did I know – I’d found my profession.
3) What are your USPs (Unique Selling Point) that make you stand out from the crowd?
We endeavor to do anything to make my clients lives easier – down to printing place cards and organizing last minute DJ’s or balloon arrangements, or aiding people who turn up unannounced and getting food for the chauffeurs.
We area always on call for help and advise, we are always willing to spend time with the clients in person going through any details, concerns or particulars as long as its in the bar!
We have fantastic monsoon drench power showers in ALL the bedrooms – they are just incredible. I tend to have hour long showers when I stay over!!
Complimentary Internet, complimentary food tasting, SPA, afternoon teas, 300 bottles wine list, beds that you sink into, incredibly smiley & knowledgeable staff. – The list goes on and on!!!!!
