I’m just a few days back from the Lakes and I’m missing it already. A few friends were going up for a weeks holiday and there was a space for me and my wife so they asked if we’d like to join them. As I hadn’t been for well over 30 years and can’t remember much, and my wife Marie had never been, we jumped at the chance. It was the best holiday in ages. It’s been exactly 1 year today since I posted by first blog. How time flies!! I must admit I was a bit hesitant about whether to start blogging, thinking “would anyone be interested in my few ramblings or favorite photos?” But based on the comments over the year I’ve found my worries were unfounded as many continue to surprise me by commenting on a post I’ve written, many times on things I’d forgotten all about.... Every now and then I hear someone say “digital photography is so easy. You only have to press the shutter, download the images and print them in an album.” But how far from the truth that statement is!! In fact as soon as the shutter is pressed that when the real work starts as each image will have it’s exposure checked and corrected if necessary, colour balanced, cropped, sharpened, minor blemishes/distracting elements air-brushed and the final image perhaps vignetted. By the time the final print is done it can sometimes look nothing like the original. All of this takes time and can’t be automated.... Click to see more
