Clive’s Five – 12-05-07

Becky and Steve got married at the beautiful Sutton Bonington Hall, in Leicestershire. I usually work alone on weddings but for a change I brought along a 2nd shooter with me, (I don’t mean I brought along a gun, like a scaled down version of a 6-shooter!! No, the term is what we use for a second photographer! So if I say to you during our pre-wedding chat that I’m bringing a 2nd shooter with me don’t panic thinking have you upset me some how? or ‘does Clive think our wedding is going to be that rough that he needs to arm himself for protection’ !!) My 2nd shooter for this wedding was Carl Ebrey, who I’ve worked with quite a few times before. You can visit his website here: www.carlebrey.co.uk

05-12-harris-031.jpg I just love this image as it was totally unposed and taken without the use of flash, which would have killed the atmosphere straight away. As I was taking it I knew that it was a perfect subject for black and white as the image’s strength rests on the use of the tones to tell the story.

05-12-harris-044.jpgI’ve not long bought a new lens, called a fish-eye lens that produces a very recognisable type of image that covers an almost 180 degree angle of view. I’m still experimenting with which images suit it best, but for a different view of the groom here, I chose to use it to produce one of my favourite images of the wedding.

05-12-harris-094.jpg Again another gab shot from the day as Becky looked out of the window. (OK not totally grabbed and unposed, as I only asked her to stay still while I straightened the train of her dress.)

05-12-harris-206.jpgAs Sutton Bonington is a lovely Queen Anne period property, I felt one image would suit a period-look to it. This image suited well, while still retaining it’s contemporary feel.

05-12-harris-348.jpgI’m always looking for a different angle for my images. I produced this one looking over the upper balcony onto the stairs below.
